Orval Daugherty

Orval Daugherty passed away January 13, 2009 at the Invermere Hospital.

He was born in Lac Vert, Saskatchewan on March 13, 1928 and moved to the Columbia Valley in 1948. He lived in Edgewater for several years then moved to Harrogate where he built and operated a mill called Warmsprings Sawmill with my mother Pauline Rauch who predeceased him in 1984. Again Orval carried out a great interest of his, fabricating a few more one-man operating sawmills from scratch. After retiring Orval felt he needed something to do in his spare time, so he went back to school. We were all so proud of him. His hobbies consisted of restoring old vehicles, having a good cup of coffee and watching & feeding wild birds. He especially loved all the humming birds that came to his house.

Orval leaves behind his daughter Anita (Don) Fowler; Sons Greg (Bonnie) Reeder and Allan Reeder; Sister Gloria (Bud) Roberts; Brothers Bob, Frank (Irene) Daugherty; Grandchildren Candice, Calli, Ashly, Kella; and many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends.
