The Radiun Hot Springs Public Library and Harbour Publishing will be presenting author Charles Scheideman on June 24 at 7 p.m.

Schiedeman, author of Policing the Fringe and other works, will be reading from his book Tragedy of Jackass Mountain – More Stories from a Small-Town Mountie.

Schiedeman, a former RCMP officer, will also be giving a talk and doing a book signing of his new collection of stories.

The written works come from his 27 years of patrolling the small communities of British Columbia.

The scope of the stories range from tragic, horrific and more, and shows the darker side of the work the men and women who uphold the law in some of B.C.’s more “lawless” regions deal with.

Regardless of tone of the stories, Schiedeman’s works will leave readers and listeners with a renewed admiration for RCMP officers across Canada.

For more information on the reading and signing event, call the Radium Hot Springs Public Library at 250-347-6455.’
