The recent flooding in Australia inspired a fundraiser for the cooks and workers at Panorama Mountain Village.

On a day where the Australians who work at the resort were out celebrating their nation they also took some time to collect donations to help out people back in their home country who have been suffering through one of the worst natural disasters in recent memory.

Steve Mazengarb is a Restaurant/Catering Chef at Panorama Mountain Village who put together a barbeque with a distinctly Australian flavour where people could donate funds.

“We just wanted to try and do what we could to help,” Mazengarb said.

He went on to explain that people would be able to contribute to the fund at other events and at the resort during the season.

“We are going to have a Chinese New Year Celebration on February 3rd. We are running an evening buffet in the great hall with things for both kids and the adults. We also are going to have a special day for

Alberta Family day. Buffets will be open on both Saturday and Sunday evening, bookings are not essential but are preferred,

“There will be a fireworks display on the Saturday night with a torchlight parade, we also have a rail jam happening earlier that evening.”

With many other events on the schedule the hills should be alive with many skiers who also will have the chance to help those people in need.
