INVERMERE — Three David Thompson Secondary School students  are getting $2,000 each from the Columbia Basin Trust to use for post-secondary education.

Alison Perdue, Paul Brown and William Constable are among 43 high school grads receiving the trust’s 2011 Youth Community Service Award.

The annual scholarship is not based on academic standing, but on volunteer community service. To be eligible for the award, students must graduate from a Basin school that grants diplomas.

This year the trust gave out $86,000 through the awards program.
