Jumbo arguments are familiar for a reason

I would like to comment on your November 23 article "Jumbo economic criticism 'preposterous' — Costello."

I would like to comment on your November 23 article “Jumbo economic criticism ‘preposterous’ — Costello.’ In it you quoted Grant Costello’s remarks about the Shaffer economic feasibility report on the proposed Jumbo Glacier Resort.

The report was uncomplimentary to say the least, and shredded practically every economic claim the JGR promoters have ever made about the project. Dr. Shaffer confirmed many of the harsh criticisms that were stated in the Iris/Sno Engineering economic feasibility report in 1999.

Perhaps “most of the criticisms are ones JGR has heard before” are because they are accurate. Of course this economic report will have an “impact on the decision making process for Jumbo, and on investor confidence.” This is important and relevant information that our provincial government needs to make an informed decision.

I do agree with one statement from Grant, that “The process is closer to getting to an end.” The end of this 20 year-old bad idea.
