No government money for Jumbo Resort

I do not believe I am alone in not wanting my tax money to assist a private development.

I would like to thank Mr. McKenzie (‘It’s time for NDP to ‘let Jumbo fly,’ January 11) for bringing the issue of government waste of taxpayers’ money to the forefront. Over and above all the issues that are being lobbied to the government, there is the question of taxpayer subsidization being required for a private venture. Remember that two economic feasibility studies question the economics of the Jumbo proposal. I do not believe I am alone in not wanting my tax money to assist a private development.

As a resident of the Columbia Valley (B.C. tax payer), I do not want the Jumbo project to proceed for two reasons: the necessity for using government/taxpayer funds, and for environmental reasons.
