The last two weekends at the first provincial series races in Alberta saw many podium finishes for the kids in blue from Team Panorama Ski Club.

“We have now completed our first provincial meets,” says Mark Sharp program Director of Team Panorama, “and we are very happy about the amazing preparation we have had at our home hill Panorama in order to achieve these strong results. The races are a good reflection of how the program is progressing provincially and a good indication of what we should expect in the coming years.”

After the four races per age group, K2 (13 and 14 year-olds) and K1 (11 and 12 year-olds) Team Panorama athletes collected 11 podium results and too many top five and top 10 finishes to mention names individually.

In the K1 Kombi events, Rachel Kanan collected three gold medals while Liam Haynes earned two silvers in the boys’ events.

In the K2 races, for the boys Keelan Wittstock won two gold medals and  a silver while Keegan Sharp collected two golds. In the girls’ events Amelia Smart won silver and posted two very close to the podium fourth place runs to add to a great weekend.

The Team Panorama ski club, which is made up of families from Calgary and Invermere, has made Panorama Mountain Village its home since 1983 and boasts one of the most qualified coaching staffs in Canada with several ex-world cup coaches and senior level course conductors working with the kids.

Sharp says of his staff, “I couldn’t dream of a better group of coaches bringing decades and decades of experience down to the kids’ level of ski racing for Team Pano.”

Sharp would also like to thank Panorama Mountain Village for such amazing support to the kids who grow up skiing and training on the slopes at Pano.
