Pitching in to show Valley Pride

Spring is coming, slow though it may seem. With spring arriving and snow disappearing we find the remnants of last summer and fall and winter making their appearance.

Spring is coming, slow though it may seem. With spring arriving and snow disappearing we find the remnants of last summer and fall and winter making their appearance.

For the past two springs an effort has been made to clean up our communities and the roadways in and about the valley. A “Valley Pride” effort is scheduled for Saturday April 23; hopefully the weather will cooperate better this year.

Our schools have played a major role in the event the past two years. While the children do a great cleanup in their communities it is too much and not always safe to have them work around our roadways. Service clubs and frontage businesses get out and “Pitch-In” along stretches of the road ditches but there is much to do. A concerted effort of more community members, family groups, outdoor clubs and activity groups is needed to get more areas cleaned. A definite improvement was seen in the volume of debris that had to be gathered last year over the previous year. There are areas in our communities that have not been attended to in the past two years that need to be addressed.

Make this year the year to “Pitch-In’ on April 23. More information will be forthcoming closer to the date. Check and see what is planned for your community and for the greater valley area. Only you can make a difference.
