Relay for Life seeking new entertainment

With Relay for Life coming up soon, entertainers are encouraged to participate in the event.

The Canadian Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life just keeps getting closer and closer, and entertainment is needed to make the day one to remember.

“This year, I would like to see people saying that they would like to take part in the festivities because I’m not always aware of the talent that is around the community,” said Jenn McKay, entertainment manager for the Relay. ” Anybody who wants to partake, should contact myself or Cindy MacKay, who is taking over my role.”

In years past, the Relay has featured live bands, performers, face-painting, and even a dunk tank. The Luminary event has been a consistent staple in the Relay festivities.

This year’s Relay will have an “Imagination Station”, for children to do arts and crafts while parents participate in the Relay.

“The relay supports such a great cause, and it’s so much fun for the entire family,” said McKay. “From the food that they have, to the entertainment that they have, and just the walk itself is a lot of fun, so I definitely encourage people to be a part of this great event.”

Participants in former Relay for Life entertainment who are interested in returning to this year’s Relay are encouraged to sign up again as well.

“I’m really excited, this is a great event,” said Cindy MacKay, who will be taking over Jenn McKay’s role later into the year. “People should come out and support the event because it’s for such a great cause.”

A kick-off night for the event, which took place on April 14, raised over $10,000 for the cause to get things off to a great start.

Those interested in being a part of the Relay for Life’s entertainment this year can call Jenn McKay at 250-688-5366 or email at jennmckay01@gmail.com.

Entertainers are also welcome to call Cindy MacKay at 250-341-5161.
