Head shots have become the biggest story in the National Hockey League especially since Sidney Crosby has gone down with a concussion. The long- term effects of these injuries is something all parents should be concerned about. Athletes should be protected. The question is how to make the games played safer for those involved. What is the true issue…is it that players have less respect and take cheap shots? Maybe the equipment is so strong now the human body cannot take a hit? As more players in a wide variety of sports are hurt and suffer long after they have left the field of play, the question of what can be done is out there waiting for an answer. Respect has to be a part of the game and injuries happen but how much can truly be done to protect those who partake on a field of contact?
