The Columbia Valley Rockies hard at work early in the season

Rockies fundraising season begins

The staff and volunteers are hard at work preparing for the 2017/2018 hockey season.

Coach Wade has been on the driving force of scouting for new players. He has 10 kids ages 16-20 committed to play for the Rockies, most of whom will start the season with the team. Others have Junior A opportunity, but will report back to the Rockies if they do not secure long term spots at the higher level.

The volunteer staff is also hard at work to find billet homes for the team. Billet families receive $550 per month to host a player. A season pass is included and an invitation to the year-end banquet. The commitment is from September to March.

Fundraising for the team will start the first week of June with tickets on a classic car raffle. This year is a beauty; a white 1979 Corvette. The car will be displayed through town. You can purchase tickets for your chance to win at the Radium, invermere, and Fairmont farmer’s markets and also at Home Hardware.

Bull riding is one of the biggest fundraisers for the team. This happens July. This event has sold out in previous years so get your tickets early and come and enjoy Bull Riding in the Rockies 2017.

If you want to become a billet home for a player please contact Cheri Hann at 250-688-4266. If you want to help out with selling tickets on the classic car please contact Amanda at 250-341-1111. Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
